Arctic Zero Frozen Dessert Review

November 2, 2016 by BrookeWeiss

Let’s get straight down to it! Arctic Zero frozen dessert is low glycemic, lactose free and GMO free. In today’s terms, Arctic zero is f-ing awesome! I stumbled upon Arctic Zero awhile ago before they launched their five new flavors and I was already a dedicated customer fitting in the ice cream just about every week into my macros. Ice cream is at the top of my all-time favorite foods list but when I developed a lactose intolerant I slowly died inside as I could no longer tolerate regular ice cream. And then, all of a sudden, as I was venturing through the ice cream isle (because why not just look) I saw it. I saw a cute little pint sized container that read “lactose free.” I shuffled through all of the flavors with anxiety as I just didn’t know what to try first! At this time, the store I was at had only five of their flavors available so I did what any normal person would do, I got them all. They were:

  • Salted Caramel
  • Vanilla Maple
  • Cookie Shake
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter
  • Cookie Dough Chip

The Salted Caramel tasted just like it sounds and was delicious. The Cookie Shake reminded me of cookies n’ cream blizzards from Dairy Queen, so I of course loved it. I don’t recall the Vanilla Maple that much. Probably because I am more of a chocolate girl. The Chocolate Peanut Butter was good, but would be even better with peanut butter chunks. The Cookie Dough hit it square on the head with the flavor and the chunks! My go-to before the new flavors was a toss up between Salted Caramel and Cookie Dough. It all depended on my mood and desire or not for those extra chunks in the Cookie Dough. Sometimes, which I highly recommend, I would combine the two and get the rich flavor of the Salted Caramel AND the chunks from the Cookie Dough! #wining

Then, it happened. FIVE new flavors were released and I had to get my hands on them. Especially the Brownie Blast! The new flavors are:

  • Brownie Blast
  • Banana Pudding
  • Snickerdoodle Dandy
  • Poppin’ Pomegranate
  • Cake Batter

Let’s start with the Brownie Blast because this is my new go-to and every time I go to the store wanting to try a different flavor I always find myself reaching for that Brownie Blast. It has brownie bites and chocolate chips mixed in dark chocolate ice cream. Like hi, do I need to say more? I don’t care where you are, what you are doing or how many macros you have left. You MUST got to the store now and get this. You can thank me later.

The Snickerdoodle Dandy would be my next favorite of the new flavors. If Brownie Blast happened to be sold-out, I would first throw a fit, and then I would probably go with the Snickerdoodle or Cookie Dough. It would be a difficult decision. The Snickerdoodle has a subtle cinnamon flavor with sugar cookie chunks. What can I say, I am a chunk type of girl. Highly recommend trying this flavor.

Cake Batter, this has the flavor of smooth whipped batter of yellow cake. It definitely did the trick of satisfying my sweet tooth and ice cream craving. If you are one of those that goes to Cold Stone and must get the cake batter, this probably won’t live up to your dreams. But, for only being 150 calories for the ENTIRE pint, it is definitely worth a try!

If you love the banana runts from when you were a kid, you are going to love the Banana Pudding. It has a bold banana flavor with vanilla wafer crumbles. It was a little to bold of a flavor for my liking, but I did thoroughly enjoy the vanilla wafer crumble.

The last of the new flavors is the Poppin’ Pomegranate. If you aren’t a chocolate lover like myself and usually reach for the sorbet or fruit flavored ice cream, definitely try this! It lives up to it’s tart tantalizing flavor description!

Not only do I love these frozen desserts for being lactose free, I also love them because of the macronutrient breakdown. The chunky pints are only 300 calories (yes, for the entire thing!) and the creamy pints are only 150 calories. They are very low in sugar, low in fat (the creamy pints don’t have any), low in carbs and contain protein. Basically, they are the best tasting frozen desserts to ever come from the macro gods and goddess. Even if you aren’t a macro tracker or lactose intolerant, I highly recommend having these on hand for when your sweet tooth raises its ugly head. Any late night Dairy Queen cravings, any hard breakups or you just want to treat yoself, Arctic Zero has your back!
